課程概述 |
This course studies the family system from multiple theoretical, evidence informed and practical perspectives. Students will learn about the methods of understanding marriages and families, marriage and family development, cultural influences, alternatives to marriage and family, child rearing methods, marriage and family dysfunctions, and families with special situations. The course will examine empirical evidence about families in a variety of contexts and societies. Dating, mate selection, marriage, parenting, siblings, divorce, single parenting, remarriage, aging and family dysfunctions are also discussed. Students will learn the application of psychological methods to advance knowledge related to family research, patterns and processes, and assessment and intervention, as well as to policies relevant to advancing the quality of life for families. |
課程目標 |
Students should be able to:
• Identify, describe, and explain the methods and theoretical structures used to understand marriage and family interactions.
• Describe various marriage and family developmental processes.
• Identify typical problems and some suggested solutions in the marriage and family context.
• Demonstrate ability to analyze and critique theories and research in psychology.
• Practice dialogue facilitation, brainstorming, and group process skills.
• Solidify writing and oral presentation skills.
